Update from Farhan

I hope that the start to 2008 has been as wonderful for you, as it has been for me...
I just wanted to share a little of what I've been upto recently, and share some great news...

Firstly - for the good news... I'm going to get married!! In less than 12 days I will be a married man! The wedding is set for the 23rd of March, in Karachi, in Pakistan... Her name is Midhat, and you can see a photo of her here. She's 26 years old, comes from a Pakistani family, and has lived most of her life in Saudi Arabia.

So I'll be flying out next week, we'll be married next weekend, and then a few days later, I'll fly back, and she'll come and join me in the UK a few weeks later, once all the visas and stuff have been sorted out!!

We'll also be having a wedding reception in the summer, around June/July time, in the UK... I'll be sure to post photos of the wedding on my blog at http://life.magitam.org.uk

As you can imagine the wedding is taking up a lot of my time and attention, so I'll just briefly give you the highlights of the rest of my adventure through life so far...

Spent 2 months at the end of 2007 in South Africa, helping re-design http://www.growsouthafrica.org a social networking site aimed at South Africa. Before that I spent 8 months volunteering with The Pachamama Alliance in San Francisco (Aug 06 - Mar 07). Now I've decided to lay my "Volunteering" hat to one side, and have laid off my travelling shoes for now.

The focus for 2008 is to restore myself to perfect health (which includes getting physically fit, and getting my leg fully healed), and then to start building a solid financial base from which I can start investing in my own projects. I figured it would be quicker to work a few years, and save up enough money to start my own tech startup, than waste another two years, living frugally and trying to raise the seed capital of £30k or £40k, to kick start development on a technical solution to junk email, social networking, and information overwhelm in our modern society (if you happen to be interested in investing in the project, feel free to email me back and ask for more info).

So these days, my days are filled with working a sales role with http://www.sign-up.to

After working on getting magitam.co.uk off the ground, I've come to realise that the one skill set I needed to develop, to stay afloat was my sales skills, so now I'm getting paid to develop my sales abilities!

Hope life is treating you well! Feel free to write back, and let me know how you're doing! I can't wait to hear from you!!

Best wishes

Farhan
